A Proactive Approach to Decreasing Risk Through Behavioral Adjustments

Safety on a construction job is all about accountability at all levels, from those who plan activities to those who perform the work.  Understanding and reinforcing positive and safe behavior demands clarity and risk influences that range from inadequate jobsite manpower to inefficient resource visibility.

The traditional decentralized approach to project controls and safety has had limited impact on jobsite risk.  “In the past, different people oversaw that data, and it might be difficult-if not impossible-to get that information instantly,” says Dara Lesmeister, Lead Safety Manager at the $375m Caesars Forum Conference Center in Las Vegas.

Instead, Lesmeister-charged with managing Caesars’ Owner Controlled Insurance Program for both general liability and workers’ compensation risks as well as general contract Penta Building Group-utilized the SiteTraxx resource management platform to influence behavioral change.

“With SiteTraxx, orientation, testing, enrollment and company details ae at our fingertips.  We were able to check in a moment’s time to verify that an individual had passed all the site requirements, and the company was allowed onsite.  Further, we could evaluate daily safety risks and focus our attention in those areas,” Lesmeister says.
